June 20, 2026

Total of Ktunaxa participants and representatives: 9.

Salmon Warriors in attendance: Tyrell Gravelle, David Manuel, Kutenai Shottanana, Calianna Tait, Andre Nicholas Isaiah Shepperd and Dawn Scout (Indigenous Knowledge Coordinator).

On June 20th, the Salmon Warriors participated in the annual festivities in Cranbrook.

They took part in the parade by being cultural ambassadors and representatives for the Bringing the Salmon home Initiative.

A total of six Salmon Warriors participated this day.

A Ktunaxa Nation truck was decorated with CRSRI banners and magnets which Dawn drove.

Two of the Salmon Warriors walked with the banner and carried a salmon plushie.

A couple of the others handed out candy and engaged with the crowd.

The other two carried and swam the other salmon plushies throughout the time of the parade. We also had post cards being handed out to the public.

This was such a joyful event for everyone.

The Salmon Warriors were fully engaged the entire time. They showed up in ribbon skirts and their CRSRI (Columbia River Salmon Reintroduction Initiative) shirts.

They walked proudly and had lots of fun. We have bigger ideas for next year as they would like to do it again.
