May 20 – 21, 2026
By Tyrell Gravelle (Salmon Warrior) and Dawn Scout (Indigenous Knowledge Coordinator)
Total of Ktunaxa Participants and representation: 20
Tyrell Gravelle and Dawn Scout attended and participated in two separate fry FINS (Fish in Schools) fry releases, one in Invermere and the next day in Golden.
The first day the release was at the Athlemere boat launch in Invermere.
They participated in the releases as well as being advocates for the CRSRI booth with the other communications team members.
There were two releases that day.
After the releases they got invited to a salmon feast at the health center in Sushwap.
Next, they travelled to Golden after the feast and giveaway.
The second day the release was held at the Confluence Park in Golden.
Tyrell and Dawn attended this FINS release as well.
They had another CRSRI table this day that they also helped with as well.
This release they watched the schools release their fry as there was a smaller number of salmon fry for this release so we supported rather than participated.
This was a nice trip for Tyrell and Dawn to attend because we are both introverts so this gave us an opportunity to connect and share how we are enjoying the work and how we are being recognized in the work that we are doing.
