Community Garden coming to Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it this spring
This week, Martin and Arthur presented to Council a member led vision for a new Community Garden coming to Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it this spring!
Thanks to successful grant funding of $8,000, the project is already underway, supporting the purchase of gardening tools, supplies, and seeds to get things growing.
At the Council Meeting, Council also endorsed a letter of support to the Columbia Basin Trust to help secure additional funding for the garden’s infrastructure (fencing, raised beds, etc.), which will help ensure the garden’s success!
This initiative is about more than just growing food.
It’s a member driven vision, helping bring our community together, strengthens food security and sovereignty, and will plant the seeds to support a healthy future for our children and future generations.
Interested in getting involved or learning more about the project?
Reach out to Arthur or Martin, we’d love to have you be part of it.
Next Community Garden Info Session is on April 8.
